Further work on refining the Route Line for the Pilot FTTH Network has resulted in a neater, more accurately defined set of results. The Optical Line Terminal has been re-positioned to The Anchor Inn in Whittonstall, taking advantage of the openreach resources in the village.

The map below shows several key layers created by Softelnet’s algorithms – 1 to 4. However, two layers, the Demand Points (residential and business premises), specified in the original brief, and the ‘Roads’ used to route the cable have been manually digitised. ‘Roads’ data has 7 classes, including, Drive Side, Field, Lane Side etc, are selected by Alg 2 to create the Route Line, this line takes the fibre to the centroid of each property, the last leg of which is the class Drop Line.

From these layers, the application creates Demand Clusters, encompassing ‘nearby neighbours’ to each group. These demand clusters are then used to determine the location of 8 Potential Nodes, also shown on the map.

The Pricing Link describes the numbers of fibres required for the entire network, linking Potential Nodes, the Pricing Link provides a schematic view of the network backbone. Pricing Points depict the specification of the Pricing Link at each point, derived Potential Nodes. Links to more information are below the map.
