I’ve been busy this year…

I work in a team that digitises and classifies buildings in towns and cities across the UK.

We classify residential, commercial and industrial buildings, according to age, type and construction, and plan to have to ‘lion’s share’ completed within the next few months.

I checked my production stats today and note that I have now classified about 400 square kilometres in about 100,000 polygons, across 10 UK towns and cities.

I use the industry standard OpenSource GIS application QGIS, a robust and reliable application constantly under development.

It’s a little bit like painting the Forth Road Bridge, when the work is finshed, it’ll be time to update the data. Below is a clip illustrating a post war housing development in Edinburgh.
